Continued Gallery Representation

I'm happy to report that I have another photo that will be hanging at the Gallerie de Souza in Chico. Long time readers of my blog will remember that this is the gallery that accepted one of my photos into the Bidwell Park Centennial Exhibit. The piece that has been accepted this time is "Shrub Skeletons".

Fall Begins, Shining Rock

Here's another photo from my North Carolina trip from last year. I had hoped that my trip would coincide with the peak of fall color in the high elevations on the Blue Ridge Parkway, but fall came very late this year. There were only a few trees turning when I visited, which made for a nice contrast against the green shrubs and evergreens. This photo was made from beside a trail in the Black Balsam area, adjacent to the Shining Rock Wilderness.

Craggy Gardens in Fog

I finally have scans of the first images from my trip to North Carolina back in October. These are scans from traditional prints that I had made as proofs. They aren't the best, but they do show the images effectively. I'll have drum scans made when I print them next.

Here is the first image. It was taken at the Craggy Gardens picnic area on the Blue Ridge parkway. It's an image that I had been wanting to capture for some time, and the conditions fell together perfectly on this trip. This image was created with my Mamiya RB67 camera.

Sycamore Pool and Trees

One of the most popular features of Lower Bidwell Park is the Sycamore Pool in the One Mile Recreation Area. The pool is an area of the creek that has concrete sides and is dammed in the summer. Next to the pool is a grassy area with huge, beautiful trees. This is what those trees look like in sunset light.

Frozen Waterfall

My family and I went to Lassen National Forest just south of the national park this winter to cut a Christmas tree. We noticed this waterfall and accompanying icicles beside the road, and I stopped to take a picture. I used my Nikon F100, Nikon 75-150mm lens, and Kodak T-Max 400.

Walk in the Park

One afternoon, I decided to take a walk in Lower Bidwell Park. I noticed this scene with the road and fallen leaves. The two girls walking in front of me added just the visual interest that I felt the image needed.
